Providing dental care to the people of our community is a true labor of love. I really enjoy helping people feel better about their health, solving their dental problems, and developing a friendly relationship with them. I always try to put my patients first and understand their wants and needs. The long-term relationships I have built with our family of patients have provided me with great joy.
Education and Experience
After graduating from Minot High School in 1970, I attended North Dakota State University for my undergraduate education. I went on to the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry to earn my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1977. Following graduation, I served on the faculty at the University of Minnesota for a short time before joining Dr. David Keup in practice here in Minot in January 1978.
Continuing Education and Awards
Dentistry for me has been a lifelong learning experience. Continuing education courses have been important for my development as a dentist and a benefit to my patients. I am committed to delivering the best possible service and treatment in modern dentistry.
This dedication to learning has included extended commitments to several different post-graduate dental education opportunities. As a more than 30-year member of the Academy of General Dentistry, my commitment to learning was recognized with the “Fellowship of the AGD” award in 1992. At the time, there were only six dentists in North Dakota who had received this recognition. Less than one percent of the dentists in the US reach this milestone that recognizes the dedication to learning required to receive this award.
I have completed continuing dental education courses at several well-respected dental education centers in the US, including the LD Pankey Institute, Spear Center for Dental Education, Las Vegas Institute for Cosmetic Dentistry, Dawson Seminars, Buchanan Endodontic Center, Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and many others.
Outside the Office
I was born right here in Minot, and only left to pursue my education. My wife Linda and I have been married since 1979. We have two grown children and one grandson! Jennifer Drees and her husband Jeremy reside in the Twin Cities of Minnesota where Jennifer works as a pharmacist after having completed her degrees in chemistry from Concordia College of Minnesota and a doctorate in pharmacy from NDSU. Our son Michael, his wife MacKenzie, and their son Oliver also live in the Twin Cities. Michael practices as a physical therapist after graduating with a doctorate in physical therapy from UND. Both of the kids have followed me into the healthcare field.
Our family has always been active in many sports over the years. These activities include curling, golf, hunting, fishing, hockey, softball, and winter and summer sports. Linda and I are avid UND Hockey fans and attend several games each season.
Both Linda and I are committed to being a part of our community. Linda serves on several boards of community organizations. I have participated and continue to serve as a board member, officer, and supporter of several groups that are important to us and our community. I have been actively involved in such groups as:
Minot Curling Club, Minot Country Club, Minot Elks Lodge, Minot Kiwanis Club, Minot Junior Golf Association, Minot Y’s Men’s Club, Ducks Unlimited, City of Minot Magic Fund Screening committee, Junior Achievement volunteer, Minot Public School foundation, and Minot Hockey Boosters.
I look forward to continuing to serve the people and friends we call patients in our dental facility here in Minot.
