For most fillings on back teeth we use a natural looking, cosmetic resin. This is a strong, plastic material that is easy to apply and difficult to detect. This material produces a long lasting, natural looking filling.
When the size of a cavity is too large for this material, we are then able to use ceramic, tooth colored partial crowns called onlays. These onlays are made in two visits to the office and are a durable, cosmetic solution.
Cosmetic procedures are performed to correct misshapen, crooked, stained, injured or otherwise deformed teeth, as well as to improve the appearance of other areas of the face such as the lips, chin, eyelids or skin.
Composite bonding can work wonders for your smile. Using materials that match the shade, translucency and the texture of your teeth, gaps between teeth can be closed, spots and discolorations can be eliminated, and your self-confidence can be enhanced through the improved appearance of your smile. Composite bonding is excellent for small defects in the teeth - spots, chips, or gaps between teeth. For smile alterations involving an entire tooth or multiple teeth, however, porcelain is the material of choice.
Veneers are very thin, tooth-colored shells that are custom-fit and bonded to the front sides of teeth to close gaps, cover stains and discolorations, and correct chipped or misshapen teeth to give you a bright, even, attractive smile.
Dental Crowns are used to strengthen and improve the shape, size or color of teeth. They can support broken or weak teeth or those with large fillings; provide a smooth, strong, attractively contoured surface for stained, misshapen or otherwise abnormal teeth; and aid in the implantation of bridges and other implants.
Bleaching products brighten teeth that have been stained or darkened by food, tobacco use, age or injury. There are a variety of whitening products to reduce or eliminate such stains. First, your teeth will be examined and cleaned to make sure there are no cavities, loose fillings, gum problems or other issues that may be exacerbated by the bleaching process. A custom-fit mouthtray will be made for your teeth. You will apply a special bleaching gel at home for a few hours each day. Within a few days, your teeth will brighten dramatically, making your smile look better and younger. These trays can be saved and used periodically for a "refreshed smile" even months or years later.
Orthodontics is the term for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of dental and facial irregularities. Common orthodontic problems, or malocclusions, that require treatment include crooked teeth, crowding, spacing, protruding upper teeth, overbite, underbite, open bite and crossbite. Appliances such as braces are used to correct malocclusions by moving the teeth and jaw into proper alignment. Treatment is designed to help the patient both aesthetically (by improving the smile) and functionally (by improving the bite). Patients who undergo orthodontic treatment often enjoy greater self-confidence with their new smile.
Orthodontic treatment can help patients of all ages, although treatment is most effective as soon as a problem is detected. Children should have an orthodontic exam before they turn 7 to detect and treat any problems early and to ensure optimal results. It is important to treat malocclusions before problems worsen or cause tooth decay, gum disease, surface wearing, stress on the gum and bone, jaw misalignment, headaches or face and neck pain.
In some instances, the bacteria from decay can reach the pulp (nerves and blood vessels inside the tooth). This will cause an infection of that pulp - leading to a toothache or abscessed tooth. Modern dental techniques can usually save these infected teeth and stop the pain associated from a toothache. New and more simplified methods make the procedure of endodontic treatment (root canal treatment) now easier, more predictable, and virtually painless. Our doctors are experts at providing this tooth-saving technique. Don't suffer with a toothache or lose a tooth unnecessarily!! Call our office today for relief from this problem.
Injury, disease, congenital defects, joint and sleep disorders, neglect, and years of day-to-day wear can all cause significant damage and require the complete or partial removal of our teeth. Prosthodontics is a subspecialty of dentistry that focuses on the restoration and replacement of missing or damaged teeth and other oral tissues to maintain health, function and aesthetics. Stained, chipped, worn, broken or missing teeth can be restored to their natural appearance so you can continue to enjoy a beautiful smile. Replacements include crowns, bridges, veneers, inlays, dental implants, and complete and removable partial dentures.
